Mike Massery Owner/Head Coach

Mike is a highly accomplished and respected head coach with deep roots in baseball and softball coaching, training, and player development. With over 15 years of coaching experience, he has established himself as a leader in the sport, providing private lessons, leading group practices, and coaching competitive teams since 2009. Known for his exceptional ability to connect with athletes of all ages and skill levels, Mike customizes each coaching session to meet individual needs, combining humor and intensity to create an engaging yet disciplined environment. His coaching philosophy emphasizes technical mechanics, game fundamentals, and mental preparation, ensuring that players are well-rounded both on and off the field.

 

A 2004 graduate of Taconic High School, Mike was a three-year varsity baseball standout. He continued his career as a four-year varsity player at American International College in Springfield, MA, where he graduated with a degree in Business Management in 2009. In 2008, he competed with the Pittsfield Dukes in the New England Collegiate Summer Baseball League, an experience that further refined his skills and knowledge of the game. After college, Mike began his coaching career as Assistant Coach for Pittsfield’s American Legion baseball team from 2009 to 2011, a role that laid the groundwork for his coaching journey. In 2011, he earned MVP honors in the Berkshire Baseball Amateur League and went on to manage the league team for eight seasons.

Mike has led numerous youth baseball camps throughout the Berkshires, sharing his expertise as Head Coach and Director. His roles have included Baseball Director at Camp Mah-Kee-Nac in Lenox, MA, in 2012, Head Coach at the Boys and Girls Club Sports Camp, and Head Coach of the Lenox Baseball Camp in 2016. That same year, he managed the Berkshire All-Star U10 Cal Ripken baseball team, guiding them to multiple accolades, including District Championship, State Semi-Finalist, and Berkshire County Jimmy Fund Tournament Champion titles. In 2023, Mike was appointed Director of the Pittsfield American Legion Teams, further solidifying his influence and commitment to the sport at the community level.

 

Mike brings unmatched experience, dedication, and a strategic vision to every aspect of the game, fostering a culture of excellence and growth for his athletes.

Rich Dumas

Baseball Pitching, Hitting

Coach Dumas brings over 30 years of playing experience and more than a decade of coaching expertise to his role. Since 2017, he has been an assistant coach and trainer at The Infield, focusing on pitching and hitting fundamentals for youth athletes. A Winthrop High School graduate, Coach Dumas played four years of varsity baseball as both a position player and pitcher before continuing his athletic career at MCLA, where he earned a degree in Business.

Following college, Coach Dumas competed in semi-professional leagues and continues to play for his love of the game. Since relocating to Western Massachusetts, he has served as the pitching and assistant varsity coach at Pittsfield High School, as well as a player development and positional coach at MCLA.

Coach Dumas is deeply committed to teaching the fundamentals and preparing players both physically and mentally for the challenges of baseball.

Dusty Burdette brings over 23 years of baseball experience as both a player and coach. A Pittsfield High School alumnus, Dusty captained the 2004 team that finished as Division 1 State runners-up and was named the 2004 Division 1 Western Massachusetts MVP. He continued his baseball journey at Fitchburg State, where he played as a starting pitcher.

Dusty’s coaching career began in 2009 as an Assistant JV coach for Pittsfield High School. His diverse coaching experience includes roles as an Assistant Varsity Coach for Taconic High School Softball and as a coach for Grossmont High School in San Diego, CA. In 2019, he also coached the Primo Travel Baseball team. Since 2019, Dusty has been a head coach with Pittsfield Babe Ruth and currently manages the Pittsfield Babe Ruth 15-year-old All-Star team. Led the 2023 Legion Pittsfield Junior Team to a state championship.

Since 2020, Dusty has also offered private pitching and hitting lessons, where he shares his expertise and passion for baseball with aspiring athletes.

Austin, a Pittsfield, MA native, graduated from Taconic High School in 2018. As a key player on the 2017 Division 1 State Championship baseball team, he helped lead them back to the State Championship game in his senior year. That same year, Austin was recognized as the Western Massachusetts MVP, highlighting his impact on and off the field.

Following high school, Austin pursued his academic and athletic careers at MCLA in North Adams, MA, earning a degree in Biology with a Pre-Medicine concentration. On the baseball field, he thrived as MCLA’s center fielder and leadoff hitter. In 2023, Austin’s impressive performance earned him multiple honors, including Division III MASCAC Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-New England, and Third Team All-American. He also set single-season records at MCLA for batting average (.453), hits (63), runs (53), and total bases (127), securing a spot in the conference All-Star game.

In addition to his collegiate career, Austin was a standout player in the Futures League, representing the Pittsfield Suns for multiple seasons. He earned First Team All-Futures League honors and was invited to the 2023 All-Star game.

In 2024, Austin took his talents to Division 1 Siena College on scholarship, where he completed a Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics while playing his final season of college baseball. As Siena’s left fielder, he finished the season with a .301 batting average, underscoring his continued excellence on the field.

Since 2019, Austin has also been an assistant coach at The Infield, where he brings his extensive knowledge and passion for both hitting and fielding to developing players.
